Escape Room Tips
What NOT to Do for a Better Experience!
Escape rooms are designed to be immersive and challenging experiences. To ensure everyone has a fun and enjoyable time, it's important to heed tips for our Columbus escape rooms. Here are our recommendations of what to avoid during your escape room adventure.
Escape Room Tips: Avoid These Common Mistakes for a Successful Adventure!
Don't Force It: While problem-solving is key, brute force isn't the answer. Avoid damaging props or trying to physically break through obstacles.
Put Away Your Phone: Most escape rooms have a strict no phone policy. We do not. But we do believe it best to focus on the game and immerse yourself in the experience.
Don't Be a Spoiler: If you've played the room before, avoid revealing clues or solutions to your teammates. Let them enjoy the challenge.
Don't Ignore Your Teammates: Escape rooms are about collaboration. Listen to others' ideas and work together to solve puzzles.
Don’t Talk Over One Another: If team members talk over each other, or talk over audio clues and hints, then they will miss important information. Wait your turn to speak and never yell at another player!
Don't Panic: Stay calm and collected. Panicking can hinder your problem-solving abilities. As a team, working together will enable you to go fast.
Don't Ignore Clues: Pay attention to details and use all the information provided. Clues are there to help you, so don't forget to use them after found - they have a purpose.
Don’t Be a Clue Hog: Reveal everything you find with your teammates by not keeping it hidden in your hand or not disclosing it to others. On the flip side, if another player has revealed what they found and is holding it, ask them if you want to try and use it somewhere - don’t just snatch it out of their hand!
Don’t Use Keys or Combinations More Than Once: After a key, combination, or puzzle component is used in the escape game, it will not be needed again (at least that’s the rule in our Columbus escape rooms) and should be set aside. Don’t waste time testing elsewhere in the game.
Don’t Stay in a Pack: Team members should spread out and search the room at the same time, communicating everything that is found to the entire team. If everyone does this well, clues will be found much faster, everyone will be on the same page, and puzzles will be solved more quickly.
By following these guidelines, you can help ensure a positive experience for yourself and your fellow players by understanding what not to do in an escape room. Remember, the goal is to have fun and work together to compete your mission!
