Magic Escape Rooms Brings Portable Adventure to Downtown Columbus' Electric Fair!

Columbus Escape Games: Edison Portable Version

This past Saturday, the streets of downtown Columbus buzzed with excitement as the city hosted a first-of-its-kind event: the "Electric Fair." Designed to light up Gay Street with a day of innovation and fun, the fair featured everything from entertainers and carnival games to classic fair treats. And at the heart of the action, Magic Escape Rooms proudly brought some entertainment to the bustling crowd with a truly unique, portable escape game.

For six hours, we ran our 20 minute version of "Edison's Lost Invention," within four different tents, keeping fair goers on their toes every half hour. With four dedicated game masters handling the flow of excited participants, the event was a testament to how well escape games can bring people together in unexpected places.

Cracking the Code: Thomas Edison's Final Secret

Our Edison escape game challenged participants of all age groups to step into a thrilling historical mystery. The premise was simple but captivating: investigate five weathered wooden crates, each one discovered in a soon-to-be-demolished Ohio home and bearing the unmistakable stamp of famed inventor, Thomas Edison. Participants eagerly worked against the clock to solve a series of intricate puzzles, hoping to unlock each box and discover what could be Edison's final and greatest invention! The excitement was palpable as teams of friends and families collaborated, unlocking the mystery in a steady progression until the game’s finally.

The Best of Both Worlds: Entertainment and Adventure

While fair goers were immersed in our puzzles, they also got to enjoy the many other attractions the Gay Street event had to offer. The air was filled with the delicious smells of free popcorn and cotton candy, while performers like stilt walkers and singers added to the festive atmosphere. Face painting, caricatures, and bumper cars provided plenty of fun for everyone in between their escape attempts. The entire event was a massive success, a testament to the Downtown Columbus community's desire for innovative and engaging experiences.

Looking to the Future: The Capital Line

The "Electric Fair," put on by Downtown Columbus and sponsored by Vorys Law Firm, is just a hint of what’s to come for Columbus city center. This exciting event is the first of many planned for the coming "Capital Line," which we hope becomes the new, 2-mile "Short North" of Downtown. With a focus on creating a vibrant new corridor, we anticipate even more events like this one that will bring a new sense of energy and fun to the area.

As Magic Escape Rooms, we were thrilled to be a part of this landmark event and look forward to bringing more portable escape games to the Capital Line and beyond. If you enjoyed our mini-adventure, we invite you to visit our Columbus escape room main site and learn about our NEW Edison Escape Room coming the Fall of 2025!
